How’s this for emotional child abuse? The little girl who really sang the Chinese national anthem at the Opening Ceremony was not in front of the cameras, according to CNN. She was pulled after her face was judged insufficiently “flawless in image, internal feeling and expression.” I say “she” was pulled. But all they pulled was her face. The girl in front of the cameras lip-synched the number while the singer was concealed in the shadows.
Millions or perhaps billions were awed by the China’s Olympic Games Opening extravaganza. Amazing technology. Unparalleled choreography and unity on the stage. Beauty everywhere — all skin deep. Behind the glitz, the morals of China’s rulers continue nearly as rotten as they were under Chairman Mao. They’ve just learned to cloak the iron fist in softer-looking velvet:
. . . Lin was lip-syncing to the sound of another girl . . . who was heard but not seen, apparently because she was deemed not cute enough.
“The reason was for the national interest,” said Chen Qigang, the ceremony’s musical director, in a state radio interview. “The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression. … Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects . . .
“We had to do it,” he said. “We’d been through several inspections. They’re all very strict. When we rehearsed at the spot, there were several spectators from various divisions, especially leaders from the Politburo, who gave the opinion it must change.”
What a show! Full story at CNN.

As the mother of a young girl, I am so ticked off. How dare anyone say that someone isn’t “flawless” enough especially when you are 7 years old.

How very sad for that little girl. We are allowed to see only what they want us to see. What is real?
But doesn’t our own culture worship the perfect and flawless too? What is happening right here to our little girls and young women? Could the same thing occur here? Maybe it does.

Let’s send in the TX CPS to seize the “abused” girl. The Chinese will nuke ‘em for us.

Like the CPS, China’s ruling commies don’t give a hang about the impact on the child. But who knows, like CPS, maybe they will “return” her in fourteen days, so — as AAL thinks, no damage done. … My foot. They all appear to be a bunch of sociopaths.
Kathy, you are absolutely right. The same thing DOES happen here, in volume. Girls are taught that all that matters about them is the shape of their body and perfection of their face. To be of any worth, they have to dress like prostitutes. Bellies exposed, behinds exposed, cleavage exposed, so that looking at them in the eye is an afterthought. Their minds, characters, talents are all insignificant compared to their physical appearance. They are non-persons, like the little singer at the Olympics. How foolish and tragic.

Typical of China. The individual doesn’t matter. Any single person could go to hell, it’s the state and its image that matters. China can put on a pretty face, both literally and figuratively, for these games, but we aren’t fooled. China is the same.
Interesting little anecdote I heard while watching an interview with the captain of China’s womens gold team:
A reporter and the young lady are sitting in a bus discussing the gymnasts training regiment that absolutely overwhelms her life. She is occupied all day training from early morning until 6:30 (give or take 30 minutes). Has to be to bed early to wake early.
Reporter: “Do you ever look outside and say ‘I want to do something else’, ‘I want to live a different life out there’?
Gymnast: “This is my job. Each person has there job. I have no other thoughts.”
Just another illustration that China cares only about the “job” getting done to help the state.
The little singer only had a job to sing, her self-esteem be damned. The little pretty one looked pretty. Shouldn’t we be happy?

I think it is shameful for China treat children that way but all I’ve heard is a MEDIA report and since the texas raid of the FLDS I don’t put much stock in them.
