The passage of Prop 8 in California has unleashed a torrent of vitriol against the Mormon Church. Judging from the enraged reactions of some California gays, far more was at stake — for them and the rest of the country — than the mere definition of a word. Mormon people and their temples have become targets because the Church took a strong stand in favor of Prop 8 and was an important part of the Yes on 8 coalition.
In this context, some readers might find worthwhile a first-hand look at what Mormon leadership said to Church members about Prop 8 and the attitude with which they said it. The video below offers a brief view of the kind and temperate tone with which Church leadership addressed the issue. In contrast, reports indicate that approximately 2,500 Prop 8 opponents temporarly shut down the Los Angeles Temple of the Church, last week, with a riot described by an eye-witness e-mail excerpted following the video.
Here’s a great story told by one eye-witness to the depravity and intolerance of California’s gay marriage promoters. Not content with a contest of ideas in a fair forum, they insist on mugging their opponents or their signs. Speaking of, anyone know at this point what kinds of signs are appearing on Barbara Young’s lawn? [click to continue…]
Heartiest congratulations to the people of the great State of California who, while entirely misled about Barack Obama, saw through the smoke to approve, yet again, the definition of marriage that they overwhelmingly voted for in 2000.
Yes, of course, gay militants will contest the Prop 8 victory. And yes, of course, they will play all kinds of dirty tricks in an effort to overturn it. But the fact remains that a state that voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama simultaneously approved a measure that he — and every other gay-rights nutcase in the country — openly opposed. That says something important about the intensity of the feeling on the sanctity of marriage and the clear and present danger that “gay marriage” poses. [click to continue…]
Barack Obama is one lucky guy, for the moment. I don’t believe that the majority of Americans voted for the real Obama because the did not learn his real identity before pulling the lever. They couldn’t because they never knew him.
Like so many investors blind-buying truckloads of worthless mortgage-back securities, they voted for an Obama caricature painted by a press motivated to mislead by a a craving for something new and exciting to chatter about and, for some of them, a desire to realize the marxist, atheist, redistributionist dogma that Obama really represents. This stunning video needs no introduction. How the MSM let this kind of thing slide — while they obsess over Sarah Palin’s wardrobe — is incomprehensible:
Everyone knows how, in 2006, a rogue California Supreme Court majority gave the finger to the 61 percent of California’s voters who said “yes” to Prop 22 in 2000. But few have likely read what the Court’s dissenting minority had to say about why the majority was wrong to hold Prop 22 unconstitutional. (Prop 22 read exactly like today’s Prop 8.)
David Christensen paid to publish a concise summary of their views in the Contra Costa Times. Please click on this excerpt to access a full copy of Christensen’s summary:
Far more is at stake in the California’s Prop 8 battle than “just” the definition of marriage. Perhaps more important is the question of whether a handful of judges should be allowed to overturn the voice of the people in writing law and setting community standards. In this video, Newt Gingrich thoughtfully argues that Californians should vote “yes” on Prop 8 to put the California Supreme Court back in its proper place in the constitutional framework:
Americans disgusted with Barack Obama’s wealth red-distribution plan might cut him some slack. Obama’s frame of reference is distorted, having lived a relatively selfish life and hanging now with a spectacularly selfish running mate. He just assumes everyone else is like him. In the video below, you’ll see Mr. Obama label as “selfish” Americans who, rather than have government force them to “give,” prefer to voluntarily make their contributions to the charities of their choice.
Mr. Obama misjudges Americans — I won’t say “fellow Americans” because Obama steadfastly refuses to prove that he is, in fact, a U.S. citizen — because he himself is a tight wad and can’t imagine anyone else voluntarily being really generous. A real leader would lead by example. Not Barack Obama. But in the “me-first” contest, Obama’s running mate, Joe the Biden, is the very model of a self-centered mano de bebé.* [click to continue…]
Barack Obama is rapidly reneging — no shock — on his much ballyhooed “middle class” tax cut pledge. It was only a matter of time. The only surprise is that it’s actually happening before the official election day. Expect more and more of Obama’s promises to be discarded. I’ve said it before: Barack Obama is a pathological liar who will say literally whatever it takes to get elected.
What began as an ironclad promise that everyone making under $250K per year would get tax relief has now been downgraded, according to NM Governor Richardson, to “a tax cut” (could be $5 or $50 or, at this rate, $0) for “those among the middle class” making $120K and under. This morning on radio KOA-AM, Richardson said:
“What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those.”
This comes on the heels of Joe Biden’s statement in Scranton, PA, on Monday, where he said that the tax cuts “should go to middle class people — people making under $150,000 a year.” [click to continue…]
