Looney Tunes: Orrin Hatch croons for Ted Kennedy

Utahns really need to find a more rational senior Senator.  With Teddy Kennedy teetering on the verge of oblivion, Orrin Hatch is getting all blubbery, writing a ballad of all things to “honor” the man who murdered Mary Jo at Chappaquiddick.  Boston Globe reports:

The result, “Headed Home,” is a lilting ballad that even its author can’t repeat without tearing up. The lyrics, he said, refer to Kennedy’s heroic return to the Senate where Kennedy has served for almost 46 years and Hatch for 32.

Sailing home, sailing home. America, America, we’re headed home at last

“He’s a special person to me. I want to honor him this way,” Hatch said in an interview, his eyes welling up slightly . . .

“Special person.”  That’s one way to put it.  Here’s another: Sack Hatch.

I’ve always supported Sen. Hatch in his re-election bids, but during this last term I’ve come to the growing realization that he’s been there too long, because he’s way too comfortable in Washington. This latest “artistic endeavor” proves it. I’ll not be casting a ballot for Mr. Hatch again. And I’m going to let him know. The recent electoral demise of Rep. Chris Cannon from my congressional district should serve to make the point. Mr. Cannon no longer represents Utah’s interests in Congress, and neither does Mr. Hatch.

46 years, 32 years of “service” for these profesional fibbers? We ought to have term limits. Send these parasites off to search for real employment!

Utahns? Hmmmm.

How about Utahites? Or Utahians? Utahers? Utahonians?

Is there some handle that is generally accepted by people in Utah?

“Is there some handle that is generally accepted by people in Utah?”

“Morman” comes to mind!

“Utahn” is the correct terminology. It’s what people who live in Utah call themselves. Don’t make it any harder than it is. Geeze.

There are other people besides Latter-day Saints who live in Utah. These are people who would take offense at being called “Mormons”.

Incidentally, Mormons don’t just live in Utah. There are 260,000 living in Texas, 750,000 living in California, and 127,000 living in Florida. In fact, just about any place where it’s not illegal to be a Mormon, you can find them.

Do you people know what stereotype means? Do you think there’s been some of that going one here? I do. And all of it is off-topic.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported in 2006 that Salt Lake is 50% non-Mormon. See http://www.sltrib.com/ci_2886596. And we know that Robert Redford ain’t one. ;-)

Never liked the Orrin. And he hit an all time low when he voted against the GI bill (even after I received a “letter” from him saying he was inclinded to vote for it).

Where do I go to hear an mp3 of Heded Home?
I always hated Hatch since I saw him castigate Anita Hill.
