The best evidence suggests that global cooling, not warming is the most serious climatological threat facing mankind. You’d never guess it by watching the global-warming industry and its political enablers in the U.S. and Europe. One week ago, Stuart posted a short but important entry on this topic, Get Ready for Global Cooling. As between global cooling and nuclear jihad, I’m not sure which is the more alarming. Astonishing, isn’t it, that on these two issues of such lasting importance, America’s Democrat party — now in the control of the U.S. Congress — is totally off the deep end? But I digress.
I confess here that it’s taken me a week to read the entire article that Stuart referenced in his Global Cooling post. Now having read it, I can say without a doubt that it should be mandatory for every American. While written from the northerly perspective of a Canadian scientist who would very much appreciate a bit of global warming, it is a clarion call to all. Here are a few lines to get started:
But the science of global climate change is still in its infancy, with many thousands of papers published every year. In a 2003 poll conducted by German environmental researchers Dennis Bray and Hans von Storch, two-thirds of more than 530 climate scientists from 27 countries surveyed did not believe that “the current state of scientific knowledge is developed well enough to allow for a reasonable assessment of the effects of greenhouse gases.” About half of those polled stated that the science of climate change was not sufficiently settled to pass the issue over to policymakers at all.
Solar scientists predict that, by 2020, the sun will be starting into its weakest Schwabe solar cycle of the past two centuries, likely leading to unusually cool conditions on Earth. Beginning to plan for adaptation to such a cool period, one which may continue well beyond one 11-year cycle, as did the Little Ice Age, should be a priority for governments. It is global cooling, not warming, that is the major climate threat to the world, especially Canada. As a country at the northern limit to agriculture in the world, it would take very little cooling to destroy much of our food crops, while a warming would only require that we adopt farming techniques practiced to the south of us.

Meanwhile, we have the highest bill for propane we have ever seen, 50% increase over the highest previous all-time high at our house. Due substantially to refusal on the part of tunnel-visioned Sierra-Clubbers and their groupies in Congress to drill at ANWR or to give us nuclear power. Abetted by the insane move to use up still more fuel making Ethanol with our food supplies, i.e. corn. Meanwhile, NO one who is currently in the running for president has any clue whatever about the fraudulent nature of the global-warming hysteria.

The candidates probably have a clue - but covet the kook fringe votes too much to own up to it. I doubt there is any serious conviction involved on the part of certain major proponents of the global warming panic. It’s a scam, with huge sums invested. In case anyone has missed it, Al Gore is among those profiting big time. Check it out at http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54528. There are scores of online articles on this .
