Der Spiegel: Obama Lied to Europeans About Climate Change

by Kurt Schulzke on November 17, 2009

Everybody shed a tear: Hell hath no fury like a European scorned.   With Barack the Magnificent on tour, European whinery finery is at its best.  This load of smelly CO2 just in from Germany’s Der Spiegel apparently smarting over Obama’s failure to deliver on yet another of his hyperbolic campaign promises:

Barack Obama cast himself as a “citizen of the world” when he delivered his well-received campaign speech in Berlin in the summer of 2008. But the US president has now betrayed this claim. In his Berlin speech, he was dishonest with Europe. Since then, Obama has neglected the single most important issue for an American president who likes to imagine himself as a world citizen, namely, his country’s addiction to fossil fuels and the risks of unchecked climate change. Health-care reform and other domestic issues were more important to him than global environmental threats. He was either unwilling or unable to convince skeptics in his own ranks and potential defectors from the ranks of the Republicans to support him, for example, by promising alternative investments as a compensation for states with large coal reserves.

Obama’s announcement at the APEC summit that it was no longer possible to secure a binding treaty in Copenhagen is the result of his own negligence. China, India and other emerging economies have always spoken openly about the fact that the US, as the world’s largest emitter of CO2, has to be proactive in commiting itself to targets agreed on by way of international negotiation. But that is not America’s style. The US is quite happy to see itself as the leader of the Western world. But when it comes to climate change, America has once again failed miserably — for the umpteenth time.

Not that Der Spiegel’s German readers should have any say in American politics, but it’s understandable why they’d want to in light of their own government’s current feckless impotence on the world stage. When was the last time that anyone cared what Germany has to say about global affairs?

Meanwhile, isn’t it odd that no one in Europe seems bothered by the carbon footprint of Obama’s China motorcade of 71 vehicles.

Pathological liars never expect to get called on their lies. Our President Pantywaist is tripping himself up big time. Now it is all those jobs saved in Congressional districts that don’t exist. Do I hear that Obama not responsible for those lies? He, and his apologists might take a page from Harry Truman’s playbook: The Buck Stops Here.

Reagan used to point out that all sorts of good could be done, if we don’t care who gets the credit. Obama doesn’t care how much harm is done, as long as he doesn’t take the blame. In fact, he revels in it. Plagues, depressions and world wars aside, he is the absolute worst thing that has happened to this country.

71 vehicles? Behold the royal procession. Did he bring along his own red carpet, too? How many fleets of cargo planes did that take?

Looks like the public is catching on to the con. Obama’s Rasmussen presidential approval index puts him at -14%, equal to the lowest previous rating for this president yet. With a strong approval rating of 26%, his lowest yet.
Meanwhile, independents are seeing the light in droves. Too bad they didn’t see it before the election. The blinders they were wearing have cost this nation dearly, because all of the red flags, pardon an intentional pun, were visible before the election.

Obama wasn’t the only one lying. Here is the text of one message hacked and published this week, involved in the global warming scam. This is from an article posted on Hot Air blog Nov. 20, 09.

Dear Ray, Mike and Malcolm,

Once Tim’s got a diagram here we’ll send that either later today or first thing tomorrow. I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999 for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998.

Thanks for the comments, Ray.

Cheers, Phil

The global warming fraud has in the days since Nov 24, grown into the world wide scandal now dubbed Climategate. A must-read article is linked below:

I am intrigued at how the global warming chorus is suddenly silent. The truth of the matter is told in the vigorous efforts Prof. Jones and his henchmen applied to concealing the fraud, of which they were conspicuously–and criminally–aware. If this is not a conspiracy, there has never been one.

Plenty of lies to go around on global warming. The British Daily Express has a front page banner today, UK NEWS
CLIMATE CHANGE ‘FRAUD’.
http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/143573/Climate-change-fraud-

Prof. Ian Plimer, of Adelaide and Melbourne Universities, told a London audience a few days ago that “to stop climate change governments should find ways to prevent changes to the Earth’s orbit and ocean currents and avoid explosions of supernovae in space. Of the saga of the leaked emails, he said: “If you have to argue your science by using fraud, your science is not valid.”

Not to worry, global Koolaid drinkers: Controlling the earth’s orbit, the ocean currents and explosions of supernovae in space should be a piece of cake. Based on their widely stated views of themselves, Al Gore and Barrack Obama should be up to that.

I’m waiting for the white house offical response could it begin like this?

The misinformation we are now receiving regarding climate change is due to the past eight years of the Bush administration ignoring the raw data available regarding “global warming” we will be conducting an internal investigation as well having Attorney General Eric Holder determine weather or not charges will follow. The current administration believes in transparence and will release information as this investigation unfolds.
