More Islamic depravity: Want dog? Buy fatwa.
Islamic intolerance and extremism are now a daily staple ’round the world. On the heels of Saudi Arabia’s absurd prosecution of an American businesswoman for drinking coffee with a male co-worker in Riyadh, here’s a nugget from AdnkronosInternational reporting on Iran’s brutalization of a 70-year-old man with 30 lashes and 4 months behind bars for walking his dog: [Read more →]

Clemens on Steroids: Did the Rocket lie to Congress?
Congress had no call wasting time on baseball’s steroidgate no matter what else was going on in Washington. But true heroes — as some of us once thought Roger Clemens was — should tell the truth even when it hurts. This video clip of Roger Clemens reveals several markers of deception. I’m not saying these markers prove conclusively that Roger was lying, but do suggest it as a strong possibility. Check it out and see how many markers you can identify:
I’ll post my list of markers later in the week.

Evangelical Non Sequitur: Inman Confesses to Murder, Born Agains Rejoice?
Calvin Wayne Inman — a youth minister at Elim Church in Houston — used a kitchen knife to stab a convenience store clerk to death during a robbery 14 years ago. Now Inman’s fellow church members are calling him a hero and a role model for youth. Huh? [Read more →]

John Adams & Thomas Jefferson
Some were surprised or even disappointed at how graciously Mitt Romney exited the 2008 race and then endorsed John McCain. The acrimony between them, while Romney was still in the race, was widely noted. To some observers, it was largely attributable to McCain’s bad temper and dirty tricks. But this may be a matter of perception.
Whatever it’s genesis, the conflict and its apparent denouement brought to my mind, on this President’s Day, one of the more remarkable relationships in the political history of the United States — that between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. I share here a few insights on their relationship, courtesy of David McCullough’s John Adams. [Read more →]

Berkeley & Harry Reid Red-Faced Over Code Pink
The Berkeley City Council, as we have heard coast to coast, has disinvited the Marine Recruiting Office from continuing to do business in the People’s Republic of Berkeley. To make their point clear, they awarded a free parking spot right in front of the recruiting station to Code Pink, coupled with a free sound permit once a week, effectively to invite them to continue harassing the Marines. Global Cooling: Stealth Threat to Human Life
The best evidence suggests that global cooling, not warming is the most serious climatological threat facing mankind. You’d never guess it by watching the global-warming industry and its political enablers in the U.S. and Europe. One week ago, Stuart posted a short but important entry on this topic, Get Ready for Global Cooling. As between global cooling and nuclear jihad, I’m not sure which is the more alarming. Congressional Dems Fiddle While Rome Burns: Steroidal Theater of the Absurd
Henry Waxman and Nancy Pelosi are a national disgrace. If the Republicans can’t take back the House from the likes of these incompetent clowns, we are emphatically a nation in decline. In the video below, you’ll see Rep. Henry Waxman pick a fight with pitcher Roger Clemens and his attorneys over why Clemens didn’t invite Waxman’s goons to talk with Clemens’ former nanny before she talked with Clemens. Topping off the intense drama, Waxman — who clearly took considerable pains to set the trap for Clemens — pompously reads Clemens a scolding from a script. [Read more →]
